Our nursery offers education and care for children from 6 month to school age. Our vision is “Laying foundations for children and families to build a stronger community”.
Rock of Ages Nursery is a 25 – place full-day care nursery offering places for children from 6 months to 5-year-olds.
We are registered with OFSTED and therefore adhere to the regulations set down in the Early Year Foundation Stage Statutory guidance. We follow the adult to child ratios as set out on Children Act 1989.
The nursery offers children three settling in sessions, free of charge, when a child first starts with us. This helps the child to feel comfortable and confident in their new surroundings and gives their Key Worker an opportunity to observe the child and get to know them.
We ask parents to give us as much detail of their child’s daily routines at home so we can incorporate them into life at nursery. We collect ‘All about me’ information at the child’s settling in which helps us to plan activities based on their interest from day one. This also highlights things your child is less keen on.
Thank you for your interest in our nursery. We are open from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday and will be flexible as we can be to meet your needs. We are open all year round except bank holidays.
If you think you would like a place for your child, please fill the form below and send it to us and we will contact you with a start date.
Development
Children develop at an individual pace. The EYFS curriculum is inclusive and all children are encouraged and supported to take part in all areas of interest and to achieve their maximum potential.
Sharing Information with parents
All information is readily available for parents to see and we discuss each child and their day at nursery in detail at the end of each day.
This is to highlight any issues of concern, celebrate their successes, to comment on things they have particularly enjoyed, and how parents could extend their child’s learning in the home environment.
Individual plans
An Individual Plan (IP) is a planning, teaching and reviewing tool produced for individual children and used by the Nursery to assist the child in making progress with their learning and raise their achievements.
An IP details specific short-term targets for the child and assists the staff in providing additional support for the child. IPs will be used to support your child if necessary. Individual Learning Journals are regularly updated and each child’s development is tracked and evidenced through observation, pictures, and artwork.
Rock of Ages Nursery have open plan room, with toilet facilities, which children can access as and when needed. Rock of ages Nursery is located on the ground floor which is accessible for prams, wheelchair or had serve disabilities.
Rock of Ages Nursery have a garden offering a variety of equipment and resources for the enjoyment of the children, which can be easily accessed from the back or garden door of main front door. The room has an adult disabled toilet and two children’s toiles.
Our Nursery is set out over 4 distinct stages, each supporting the children’s different ages & stages and levels of need and development:
Children (under twos)
Providing a high level of care and nurturing for our youngest children. The baby area is cosy, restful and neutral. We have a range of equipment and resources to care for our youngest babies right up to toddlers. Based on the ground floor for easy access we often take our babies to their own area of the garden as well as taking them out for walks in the pushchairs to see and explore our local community.
Children (twos)
More mobile than our babies but still needing a high-level of care as they gradually explore larger spaces of the nursery. We still operate on a ratio of 1 adult to 4 children as we feel that our two-year-olds still need a high-level of care. Adjacent to our low-level toilets allows our two-year-olds to easily begin toilet training.
Children (threes)
Increasing in confidence and independence, our three-year-olds have their own dedicated space to play and explore. We still provide the high-level of adult support that they need and work to a ratio of 1 adult to 8 children.
If you have any questions regarding our nursery services, please get in touch with a member of our caring team so we can talk about it.
